Membership

Membership runs for 1 year from the 1st of September until the following August.

The yearly fee for 2024-2025 will be £50 for the year.

This can be paid at the first meeting in September with cash or online via BACS.

Membership forms (which detail how to make online payments) are emailed out to current members wishing to renew their membership in the summer term. For new members please contact us to find out our availability of places and for a membership form.

Membership includes:

  • Visiting speaker talks from practicing textile artists and those who work in the industry
  • Workshops in meetings to build members skills and textile knowledge
  • Opportunities to contribute to group textile projects
  • Opportunities to participate in group competitions and win prizes for your work
  • Access to a Library of Stitching books you can borrow between meetings

There are often additional opportunities that may arise during the membership year that you may wish to opt in to and pay a small fee/contribution towards. These are:

  • Additional day workshops organised by ourselves or other local stitch groups
  • Small fees for any kit for workshops you need to buy, if you don’t already have them, such as fabric, threads etc.
  • The group June outing – previous visits have included the Quaker Tapestries in Kendal and private access to the Stories in Stitch exhibition at The Bowes Museum
  • To purchase items on the sales table in meetings – a small donation
  • For a tea/coffee or biscuit during the meeting – a small donation
  • Our Christmas Social buffet – a small donation
  • As we are a member of the Association of Northern Stitch Groups, you can also take advantage of being able to participate in their workshops and courses, exhibitions and fairs. Details shared via email to members.

Visitors are welcome at meetings where we have a visiting speaker. Visitors to be charged £5 on the door.
